A landscaper invoice bills for garden and grounds work: clearance, planting, turfing, paving and waste removal. Project jobs mix labour by the day with materials like plants, soil and slabs. A clear invoice separates the labour from the materials and notes any guarantee on planting.

What a landscaper invoice should include

  • Your business name and contact details
  • The customer and the job address
  • Labour lines, often priced per day
  • Materials such as plants, turf, soil and paving
  • Waste removal or skip hire
  • A planting guarantee note if you offer one
  • Tax and payment details

How to itemise the work

Price labour by the day for a defined project and list materials as their own lines: plants and topsoil, paving and aggregate, then waste removal. If you guarantee plants for a season, put it on the invoice, because it sets a fair boundary on what you will replace and what falls to the customer's care.

Typical rates by region

RegionTypical billing
United States$50 to $100 per hour, or per-project pricing
United Kingdom£150 to £300 per person per day
Eurozone€180 to €350 per day
CanadaC$250 to C$500 per day
AustraliaA$300 to A$600 per day

Indicative ranges for guidance. Your rate depends on experience, location and the job.

Tax and compliance

UK and EU landscapers registered for VAT charge it on labour and materials. In Australia, GST applies and the ABN belongs on the invoice. In the US, plants and hard materials are usually taxable while labour may be exempt, so tax often applies to the materials lines.

Payment terms

For larger projects, stage the payments: a deposit to cover materials, then the balance on completion. Net 14 for the final balance is common. State any planting guarantee and the care conditions it depends on.

Frequently asked questions

How do I handle the cost of plants and materials?+

List materials separately from labour so the customer can see the split. Charging a deposit before you buy plants and hard materials protects your cash flow, since these are real costs you carry before the job is done.

Should I guarantee the plants I install?+

A one season guarantee on healthy planting is reasonable and reassuring, on the condition that the customer waters and cares for them normally. Put the guarantee and its conditions on the invoice so both sides know what it covers.
