If you're VAT-registered in Ireland, each sale needs a valid VAT invoice that meets Revenue's requirements. This free generator builds a compliant Irish invoice with the correct VAT rate, your IE VAT number and every mandatory field — download a clean PDF in under a minute.
Irish VAT rates
| Rate | Applies to |
|---|---|
| 23% (standard) | Most goods and services |
| 13.5% (reduced) | Construction, cleaning, fuel, restaurant services |
| 9% (reduced) | Newspapers, some hospitality |
| 4.8% (super-reduced) | Livestock, agriculture |
| 0% / exempt | Exports, certain food, financial services |
Charge the rate that applies to what you're selling, and show the VAT amount as a separate line.
What an Irish VAT invoice must contain
- Your full business name and address (including Eircode)
- Your VAT registration number — format IE followed by 8–9 characters
- The customer's name and address (and their VAT number for EU B2B)
- A unique, sequential invoice number
- The date of issue (and supply date if different)
- A description of the goods or services
- The net amount, the VAT rate and amount, and the total payable
- For reverse-charge/EU supplies, a note such as "VAT reverse charge"
e-Invoicing in Ireland
Ireland does not currently mandate B2B e-invoicing or Peppol — electronic invoices are allowed where the recipient agrees, and public-sector bodies accept Peppol. As EU-wide structured e-invoicing (EN 16931) advances, it's wise to be ready: our generator already exports an EN 16931 / Peppol UBL e-invoice alongside the PDF. See the EU VAT invoice guide for cross-border rules.
